Jamestown resident Alice ?Dorothy? Gavi died April 1 at Sonora Regional Medical Center. She was 81.
Mrs. Gavi was born in Belfast, North Ireland, to Arthur and Alice Phelan.
She was a homemaker, married to Joseph B. Gavi for 56 years, and lived in Jamestown the last 48 years.
Mrs. Gavi enjoyed camping, playing cards, watching old movies, and animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brother, Harold Phelan; and sister, Marion Oliveras.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Vaughan, of Sonora, Joseph Gavi, of Jamestown, Michael Gavi, of Chinese Camp, and Marina Sharkey, of San Andreas; grandchildren, Shannon Russell, of San Andreas, Erin DeBello, of Sonora, Melissa Allen, of Jamestown, Misty Gavi and Jonathan Gavi, both of Sonora; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Marina Medina, of Albuquerque, N.M, and Audrey Phelan, of England.
Private services will be held. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Tuolumne County, P.O. Box 830, Jamestown CA 95327, or a charity of choice.
