The Department of Chemistry at High Point University seeks an Organic Chemist to fill an open rank tenure-track line with a start date of August 2013. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory and advanced courses in organic chemistry; an opportunity also exists to develop first-year seminars in support of the University?s general education curriculum. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous research program involving undergraduates. The department supports major programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry and a significant number of students preparing for careers in the health professions. The successful applicant will collaborate with faculty on the design of new science facilities and have access to startup and institutional research funds, laboratory, and office space in a new undergraduate science complex scheduled to open in 2015. High Point University, recently named the South?s number one ?up and coming? school, is in the midst of an exciting academic and cultural transformation, including the University?s launch of new programs in the health professions. The University seeks faculty members who can model the excitement of engagement, discovery, and creativity and who are committed to education as an integrated and transformational process. A Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral or recent teaching experience and a successful record of external funding are preferred.
